The power of community support

The power of community support

One of the most powerful things we can do to advance where we’re at is to uplift and validate others. If you want to grow your business by building a team or growing your customer base, or even improve the quality of your relationships, give that same love and support to others. And do it without expecting anything in return. When we help and support enough people to achieve their dreams and goals, only then can we achieve our own dreams and goals.

How? One idea is to take time throughout the day when you have a minute or two and congratulate people on their big or little successes. Offer words of encouragement when someone is struggling and let them know you’re there for them, or find a reason to shout someone out. So many people feel as if they are not ‘seen’ and we can do something about that. I have to remind myself that even when someone seems ‘popular’ and I make an assumption they don’t need my words of affirmation. Making assumptions has caused pain and frustration on more than one occasion. Who doesn’t appreciate and value an honest compliment or words of praise?!

Many of you know I love supporting and affirming women both inside and outside our community. Well, I have also been the recipient of this love and support from someone I’ve met online through our Yestie community this past year. And I have to tell you that it surprises me and delights me! My new friend Caitlin has offered words of congratulations on posts in our upline Makeup Moguls group and she has nothing to ‘gain’ other than taking a few seconds to affirm and support others. And it happened to me the other day when I wasn’t expecting it and was struggling that day – it did lift my spirits.

It’s not about being needy or depending on others to make us feel good about ourselves. Ultimately our sense of self worth is our own work and self love is the essential ingredient. But there’s no doubt that we all benefit from a supportive community, and when we take the time to acknowledge others and let them know ‘we see them’, we can be helping others at a time that might be just what they need at that moment.
